I’m a self-taught ceramicist working primarily with slipcasting, a technique I’m drawn to for its balance of precision, versatility, and creative freedom.
The challenges and limitations of clay contribute to the technique and design process, resulting in tactile forms that highlight natural lines, textures, and finishes.
Each piece begins with moulds I’ve designed and made by hand. I’ve developed my own blended clay bodies and a library of glazes inspired by the Tasmanian landscape. These handmaking processes create uniqueness and help to form a distinct and cohesive body of work.
The result is a collection of functional ceramics that are durable, practical, and refined, while retaining the subtle marks of the handmaking process. Each piece is designed to be used and enjoyed in everyday life, bringing a sense of care and quiet pleasure to daily rituals.
